Our Program PARTNERS

This is a sampling of the groups we work with in our Camps, Schools and Other Groups programs. If you would like to contact any of these to hear about their experience with us please contact us and we’ll put you in touch.

Alford Lake Camp, Hope, Maine, USA

This 100 year-old traditional girls’ camp in Maine has been bringing their senior campers to the Sea School since 1997. They go on a 3-week sailing expedition each year, and have also built 3 sailing prams that now float on their own lake back at camp. This year each participant will build a sea chest to take home with them, and then sail on their 3-week adventure.

Nova Scotia International Student Program, Truro, NS

A new partner for 2006. We are developing a program for students from around the world who have come to Nova Scotia to hone their English. They’ll be able to sail on a series of 7-day adventures as the quintessential Nova Scotian experience.

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Halifax, NS

Over the years the Sea School has built several of our boats at the Museum. We are delighted to offer a joint 5-day Heritage Sailing Adventure with a Museum curator on board to introduce participants to the history of the coast.

Windhorse Farm, New Germany, NS

This is the organic farm and eco-forestry woodlot where we get most of the wood for our boats. Participants in the boat building program visit the Farm to learn about sustainable forestry and help with the work.

Laing House, Halifax, NS

A centre that supports youth living with mental illness as they move forward in their recovery. Laing House joins forces with the Sea School and Windhorse Farm to offer mindfulness-in-daily-life programs for their members. Weekends at the Farm and regular activities in Halifax culminate in a 5-day sailing expedition in August.

Lawrencetown Education Centre, Lawrencetown, NS

An alternative education centre in the Annapolis Valley that provides public schooling with experiential education and apprenticeship-type opportunities. They join us for a day sail program in June.

Re-Evolution Program, Yarmouth, NS

This youth leadership program supports positive youth role models in Yarmouth County. They bring their participants for a day sail program in June.

"I LOVED those night talks, the boat slowly rocking on the blackness, the stars TWINKLING and the weariness from a long day." Amanda
