Citadel High School

Take it Outside Program is underway!

'Take it Outside is a great place to go after school to learn about sustainability, the environment and how we can all do our part to make a better world!' - Participant 09

The Citadel High School 'Take It Outside' Program is now in its 3rd Year and is a growing success. In three short years, this program has doubled its enrollment and includes youth in grades 9-12 from a wide range of backgrounds. The idea is to encourage youth that might otherwise not be engaged in outdoor activities, to take their
learning outside of the classroom.

The program happens for 6 weeks in the fall with weekly sessions after school and a 3 day overnight trip in mid October. All of the sessions are focused around natural areas that can be accessed by foot or bus in the Halifax Region. Students in their 2nd and 3rd
year of the program are given opportunities to mentor new students to the program.

'I look forward to exercising leadership abilities in helping first-time participants whenever possible.' - Participant 09
