Annual Holiday Fundraising Appeal!

We so appreciate your support in assisting Sea School through this difficult time, and helping us launch new & improved systems & programs for our future!

This year brought our small organization many challenges. Yet what stands out is the wealth of opportunities, learning and growth - for the youth we serve and for the Sea School as an organization.

In May, we made the tough decision to cancel our expedition programs. At the same time, we made a commitment to continue to serve youth in new ways through this unprecedented summer season and build our capacity and infrastructure for a strong recovery into 2021. We called this initiative ‘Operation Shipshape’. Read on to learn about the remarkable accomplishments of our shipshape year thus far.

  • We piloted five new programs that offered advanced leadership opportunities and certifications for youth alumni and introduced youth to a variety of new skills such as sea kayaking, small boat handling, and wooden boat restoration.

  • We established key partnerships in communities that serve Black youth, Indigenous youth and new immigrant youth - that aim to broaden access to outdoor recreation for these under-represented populations.

  • Both of our expedition vessels are receiving royal treatment by an amazing crew of female carpenters and shipwrights. With a new oil based paint finish and further investments in 2021 to replace rigs and sails, our 30’ wooden boats will be in tiptop shape to stow young adventurers for years to come.

Your support can help us reach our fundraising goal of $25,000 before December 31.

In 2020 we have learned so much. We know that the outdoor recreational opportunities Sea School provides are increasingly relevant as we proceed into an uncertain 2021. What we offer to youth - connections with each other, nature and seafaring traditions and, most of all, their own capacities - is more needed than ever. Your generosity provides safe anchorage for us and the youth we serve. Please help us build towards a 2021 where we are stronger and more effective than ever.

We invite you to consider giving to Sea School to help ensure our stability & growth! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
