South Shore Logistics Coordinator (Bosun/ Provisions)

Working hours: 30 hours a week. Work will vary based on the program schedule. No overnight work.
Compensation: $25/hour with an expected 30 hours/week.
Job Overview:
Are you an independent worker, a planner, detail-oriented, and excited about the logistics behind a successful adventure? If so, consider applying to be the summer Logistics Coordinator with the Nova Scotia Sea School!
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for pre-season, in-season, and post-season preparation and readiness of the Sea School's expedition sailboat, related equipment, expedition gear, boathouse, and expedition food provisions. They will work directly with permanent and seasonal staff, as well as with youth participants, their families and guardians, and independently at times. This is a Lunenburg-based role.
About the Nova Scotia Sea School:
The Nova Scotia Sea School offers transformative ocean and coastal experiences to youth ages 12-19. This includes single and multi-day recreational programs in sailing, hiking, wilderness survival, and related activities. These are immersive, experiential, outdoor programs for youth that emphasize and cultivate personal growth, environmental stewardship, community, and a sense of belonging. The participants represent a diverse cross-section of society, including youth experiencing marginalization due to race, gender, poverty, language, mental health challenges, and other intersections. The Sea School works closely with other youth organizations to ensure program offerings are suited to the groups that it serves.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Maintaining strong, communicative & collaborative relationships with NSSS colleagues
Boat preparation and maintenance, including but not limited to: inspection; sanding; painting; basic repairs; rigging; outfitting.
Regular upkeep of the trip prep location (Boathouse or other)
Assisting other employees during expedition prep and clean-up days
Assistance and leadership during expedition departure and arrival days as required, including managing teams of youth and staff, preparing meals, cleaning and inventorying gear, and other duties as required
Gear inventory management, including repairs and procurement
Provisioning for expeditions of up to 14 people for 5-11 days, including meal planning; purchasing; packing; labelling; cleaning; with careful consideration given to group and individual dietary needs, and while staying within budgetary restrictions
Preparing lunch for groups prior to expedition departure and on expedition return
Maintain online documentation, including budgeting; receipts; manuals; menus, inventories.
Ability to work independently as well as on a team
Ability to respond well to constructive feedback
Ability to work flexible hours and days to match a shifting expedition schedule
Participation in staff training sessions
Other duties as required

Experience and/or interest in wooden boat maintenance
